Here at Petted we’re all pet parents, so we get that insurance can be hard to understand. There are copays, deductibles, pre-existing conditions... sometimes it feels like you need a dictionary to hand to help explain it all!
That’s why we built this reviews platform.
By gathering thousands of reviews from pet parents across the US in one place, we’ve made it easy for you to find out exactly what real people think of America’s leading insurers. And don’t think we only let the good reviews onto the site: we include people’s opinions whether they’re good, bad, or indifferent. We also give insurers the chance to respond to reviews, because we think the fairest thing is to give you as much information as possible when you’re making what is a really important decision for you and your pet.
You can filter results by things like breed and insurer to make it even easier. So go ahead and see what thousands of other pet parents are saying!
I have MetLife pet insurance and they take way longer than 15 days (what is advertised) to process the claim. I also didn’t know about all of the levels when signing up. I didn’t know there was a $5K limit and a $10K limit. If would’ve been nice to be informed of that.
Price hiked twice in less then two years?
I have had them since my dogs were puppies. Now they are 3 years and 4 years. The premium has gone up twice in less then two years. Now, i am paying almost double what i originally signed up with. Unsure if it’s because my dogs are aging? They wouldn’t explain the premium increase. Just sent generic message and link to cancel if i dont like it. Shame.
I have submitted claims with zero response. I don’t know what is taking them so long.
Astronomical rate increase
I had Healthy Paws for 4 years on two dogs that I enrolled as puppies. Rates increased astronomically – my last rate for the two was planned to go from 130 / month to 190. The prior year it had been 90 / month. When I called about it, they suggested I increase my deductible or reduce my percentage. I switched to Pet’s Best which is awful on customer service, but the coverage is better (included optional sick visit coverage) and I am paying 100/month for two dogs.
If I could give Healthy Paws negative stars, I would. I used to LOVE Healthy Paws. I literally would recommend them to everyone I knew. I have a dog who was a very sick puppy. Without Healthy Paws, I would not have been able to keep her alive and I do thank them for all they have done to help me with her medical problems. As an insurance company- they are great. They reimburse medical bills easily and quickly. Their claims process is easy and straight forward. The reason I am writing this very negative review is because their rates are absolutely INSANE! They let you sign up for a very cheap rate- somewhere between $30 and $50 a month. After your first year and ANYTIME something changes (your address for example) they take that opportunity to INCREASE YOU RATE.
