Fetch was called Petplan for years until it was acquired by The Dodo – a very entertaining and life-affirming animal-focussed content hub. This happened in March 2022, so you’ll be forgiven for not knowing about the change.

This means that a plan with Fetch is backed by a huge amount of experience in the pet insurance industry. That plan will be one of two: dog or cat. What its plans cover isn’t customizable and there are no wellness add-ons, but there are plenty of variables when it comes to annual limits, deductibles and reimbursement levels.

Less common benefits include a lost pet advertisement scheme, boarding fees and vacation cancellation payments, plus there’s no upper age limit for your pet.

Waiting times for cover to kick in are on the long side and the lack of a wellness option will put some people off. But it seems to pay claims quickly and it provides it offers a 10% discount if you adopt a rescue pet from a shelter, if you’re an AARP member, if you’re a veteran or in active military service, are a vet or veterinary staff, or your pet is a licensed medical services pet (e.g. a therapy animal).

FACT! Of the 210 people who work at Fetch by The Dodo, 172 are pet parents

Petted Review

The pet insurance company formerly known as Petplan has a comprehensive offering and some excellent discounts, but the waiting times and a lack of wellness cover weighs against it.
