What’s the best pet insurance – Embrace or ManyPets?
Different pet parents will have different priorities when it comes to insuring their animals. For some, price may matter most. For others it may be flexibility. Both offering attractive plans at affordable prices, Pets Best and Embrace aren’t far apart in many areas. ManyPets are newer on the scene and are currently available in fewer states than Embrace, but both companies are popular with customers and offer different benefits to different pet parents. We hope this guide helps you work out the ways in which one company might be the wiser option for you. Once you’ve got the data, we’re sure you’ll make the right decision for your furry friend. We strongly suggest that you also use our super-speedy pet insurance quote page and review pages, which will help you decide which pet insurance plan is best for you. What do the plans cover?
ManyPets and Embrace both offer accident and illness plans covering things like hereditary, congenital and chronic conditions. Embrace covers alternative therapies as standard but ManyPets only does so with its optional wellness package. Embrace offers a Wellness Rewards add-on, which takes care of grooming, neutering, vaccinations, and preventative treatments. If you take this out, you get $25 from Embrace every year, which is nice. There are three levels of annual maximum pay-out: $250, $450 or $650 per policy year. ManyPets' wellness add-on includes things like vaccines, dental cleaning and flea prevention. ManyPets covers X-rays and prescription medication. Like Many Pets, Embrace covers dental illness and accidents, and vet exam fees at no extra cost. Both plans cover many common illnesses and conditions that a pet can suffer from, such as:- Arthritis
- Cancer
- Cataracts
- Cruciate injury
- Dental disease
- Dermatitis
- Diabetes
- Diarrhea
- Ear infections
- Hip dysplasia
- Gastroenteritis

Are there any exclusions?
Both Embrace and ManyPets exclude pre-existing conditions. ManyPets, however, says it only categorises something as pre-existing if it has required advice, treatment or medication in the last 18 months. With Embrace, the policy can cover these pre-existing conditions if they are curable and the pet goes 12 months without treatment or symptoms. ManyPets covers bilateral conditions, provided that the treated leg fits the criterion of no pre-existing condition. It doesn’t, however, cover hip dysplasia if the pet enrolled is six years or older. Embrace covers hip dysplasia in its plan but only if the animal is less than six years old when it is registered. How expensive are Embrace and ManyPets?
Embrace may be more costly than ManyPets but much will depend on the way that you balance out the cost of your deductibles and adjust your reimbursement limit. At ManyPets you won’t be penalised for paying monthly, which is not the case at Embrace. Embrace doesn't offer an unlimited coverage cap but its maximum is $30,000, which reasonably high. ManyPets has no cap on annual payouts. To be sure of an exact comparison for your pet, however, use our quote calculator.Medium Mixed 3 months old in Los Angeles

Do Embrace or ManyPets offer discounts?
ManyPets doesn't offer discounts; Embrace offers a 10% multi-pet discount. It also offers a 5% discount for active members of the military. One of the benefits of choosing Embrace is that your deductibles decrease the longer you go without making a claim. For every claimless year you’ll see the figure go down by $50, meaning it could easily reach $0.Are the plans customizable?
Yes. Both offer a wellness add-on and ways to adjust your premium. At Embrace you can customize your reimbursement percentage and deductible amounts. It has five deductible amounts ($100, $250, $500, $750, and $1,000) compared to ManyPets’ three ($100, $250, and $500). You can set your ManyPets and Embrace reimbursement percentages at 70%, 80% or 90%. Embrace offers annual reimbursement maximums between $5,000 and $30,000. ManyPets policies have no cap.How do I make claims?
Paying via app is an option with Embrace. You could also go via the dedicated section of its website or email your documents. It advises you that money will be with you sooner if you opt for the direct deposit model of reimbursement. ManyPets doesn’t have the option of an app but has a quick claims process with two options: calling the company or doing it online. It says that it aims to process claims within 48 hours. Are they easy to contact?
They are. ManyPets has myriad options: phone (888 978 5291), email, live website chat, and social media. Embrace is available on the phone (800 511 9172), by email, and on social media.Customer reviews
People who use Embrace are generally extremely happy with the service they receive, praising it for efficiency and compassion. While there are some grumblings about the amount of time claims can take to be dealt with, these comments are the minority. While ManyPets customers are glowing with praise for the service, it is impossible to ignore some negative reviews that find fault with the company’s customer service. It's a young company, however, and much of this could be put down to teething problems.Frequently asked questions
People ask us a lot of different questions about the pet insurance providers we work with. It’s the smart thing to do because no two insurers are the same. Here are some common questions (and the answers!).What are the waiting periods?
Embrace has a speedy two-day waiting period for accidents and a 14-day wait for illness cover to kick in. ManyPets is 15 days for accident and illness, BUT, if you’re switching from a different insurer, ManyPets is unique in offering to bring down those waiting periods to 24 hours in both instances.
Do the plans include behavioral treatments?
ManyPets’ doesn’t but Embrace’s does.
Is there a maximum age for enrolment?
At both Embrace and ManyPets it’s 14 years old for illness. For accidents, Embrace has no maximum.
Do they need my pet’s medical records?
ManyPets wants medical records from the last 18 months. Embrace asks for a year’s worth of records, requiring records going back to your first vet visit with a pet if it is new.
Will the insurer pay the vet directly?
Neither Embrace nor ManyPets will.
Is my pet covered in other countries?
Embrace covers them globally for up to six months but ManyPets’ will only cover you in the US or on short trips to Canada. ManyPets is also only available to residents in 36 US states.
Do they have a vet telehealth service?
ManyPets doesn’t but Embrace does.
