Pet Routine Wellness Plans

Routine Wellness Exams

Routine wellness exams are given by your vet as part of their routine preventative care. Puppies and kittens usually have these each time they have their initial vaccines, whereas adult dogs and cats usually have these 1-2 times per year.

Routine Bloodwork / Diagnostics

Routine bloodwork and diagnostic tests are carried out by your vet to check things like blood panels, complete blood counts, liver panels, pancreas panels, thyroid panels, muscle and bone panels, heartworm antigen tests, urinalysis or fecal testing.

Vaccines / Boosters

Vaccines and boosters are given by your vet for a wide variety of treatments, including bordatella, distemper, leptospirosis, lyme disease, rabies, influenza, FVRCP, FeLV and any other vaccine or booster.

Deworming

Deworming is carried out by your vet to check your pet’s stool to see if it has worms or eggs. If confirmed, your vet will give your pet medicine by mouth or in a shot to kill the worms.

Flea / Tick / Heartworm Meds

Flea, tick and heartworm meds can be purchased at your vet, but it’s usually much better value-for-money to get these from an online retailer such as Costco, Petco, PetCare Rx, Allivet, Chewy or other reputable retailers. Covers all FDA approved flea, tick and heartworm medication.

Dental Cleaning

Dental cleaning is carried out by your vet and is crucial to help keep your pet risk-free from periodontal disease, which can be terribly painful and very expensive to treat. Coverage includes anesthesia, oral exams and cleaning.

Spay/Neuter

Spay/neuter surgery is carried out by your vet, and coverage includes anesthesia, surgery and prescribed drugs.

How Petted Wellness Plans Work

Unlike other wellness plans, there are no networks and you can use your own vet for your pet’s wellness exams, vaccines/boosters or other wellness treatments.

There are no wait times, so if you enroll your pet in a wellness plan today, you can start using the plan tomorrow.

Money Saving Tip

You don’t need to use your vet for medication you pet needs for flea, tick and heartworm prevention.

We recommend you check prices from your preferred online retailer, including Chewy, Petco, Costco, Petcare Rx, Allivet and other reputable suppliers because usually you can save money vs using your vet.

Wellness Plan FAQ’s

What is a wellness plan?

Wellness plans are customized packages of routine care that every pet needs. We’ve designed these plans to keep your pet as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Plans cover essential treatments such as routine wellness exams, routine bloodwork and other diagnostics, vaccines and boosters, flea and tick meds, dental cleaning and even spay/neuter procedures.

How long do plans last?

Our wellness plans are 12 month terms, and because pets need ongoing preventative care, they automatically renew (unless you cancel at the end of the 12 month term) at the end of the 12 month term.

When can I start using my plan?

We have no wait times at all, so if you enroll today you can start using tomorrow!

Does this cover pre-existing conditions?

Yes, absolutely. Unlike an accident and illness insurance policy, our wellness plans will cover your pet just fine if they have a pre-existing condition.

Is this an insurance policy?

No, and we’ll explain the difference.

While pet insurance covers future unforeseen circumstances such as accidents and illnesses, it does not cover the routine wellness care and treatments that our plans offer.

Our routine wellness plans cover the expected routine wellness needs of your pet that aren’t covered under an accident and illness plan. This includes routine wellness exams, vaccines and boosters, flea/tick meds and more.

In summary, as opposed to an accident and illness insurance plan that you’ll only use if your pet gets sick, with our routine wellness plans you’ll use the benefits each year as recommended by your vet.

Important: If you also have a pet insurance policy for accidents and illnesses, and don’t keep up with the routine wellness recommendations your vet has made, claims will be rejected for anything that’s related to the missing wellness care.

What’s the difference between puppy/kitten wellness plans and adult plans?

Often your puppy or kitten will need to see the vet more in their first year particularly as they’ll need a few sets of vaccines which can be made over 3-6 different visits. These usually need an accompanying vet exam too, just to make sure your pup/kitten is developing as expected.

After the first year these vet visits are usually reduced to just 1-2 vet appointments.

When you look at the plan options you can see the difference between the coverage options for puppies/kittens and adult pets.

Why does my puppy or kitten need a routine wellness plan?

It’s crucial your puppy or kitten gets on a preventative wellness program as early as possible, in order that you can keep them healthy for as long as possible. During the initial exam, your vet will usually carry out a full evaluation of your puppy/kitten to check their overall health in order that they can recommend a tailored wellness plan. Without giving your pet preventative care, you’re risking their short and long term health.

When should my puppy or kitten be spayed or neutered?

Your vet will recommend this when you first go and see them for their initial wellness exam. Usually this is done when your pup/kitten is around 6 months old, but there can be variables so please ask your vet for advice.

Can I get a multipet discount?

Yes you can! You’ll get a 15% discount on all pets if you need to get a wellness plan for more than 1 pet.

Can I change my plan during the year?

Your plan is priced based on the level of benefits you’re likely to need during the year, and therefore a plan can only be changed at the 12 month anniversary.

How do I cancel a plan?

We do realize that sometimes situations occur that are beyond your control and you might need to cancel your wellness plan. Here’s how our cancellation policy works.

  1. No Claims Made – you can cancel anytime with no cancellation fee due.

  1. If You’ve Made A Claim – if you wish to cancel before the end of the 12 month term, there is a cancellation fee due of the LESSER of the amount paid in claims or the balance left to pay on the plan.

Note: If your pet passes away and you send us a copy of the death certificate or other proof from your vet, we will IMMEDIATELY cancel your plan and you will NOT be charged a cancellation fee.

Why is there a cancellation fee?

We know cancellation fees aren’t ideal but so we can keep offering these plans we have to protect ourselves against the risk of a pet parent signing up today, claiming for a bunch of wellness treatments tomorrow and then cancelling the next day.
