Wellness Plans For Puppies

Puppy Physical Wellness Exams

Physical wellness exams are given to your puppy during their formative growing years, and can be given as many as five times per year in the first year or two. Typically, a puppy wellness exam is $30-$60 depending on where you live and your puppy’s breed.

Bloodwork / Diagnostic testing

Your veterinarian will give your puppy frequent bloodwork and diagnostic tests during their early years. These tests are done to identify any abnormalities in their blood counts, or issues including with their liver, pancreas, thyroid, urine or fecal matter. Your vet is looking to ensure your pup develops into the healthiest dog possible as they begin their life.

Puppy Vaccines & Boosters

Puppy vaccines and boosters are crucial to ensure your pup is as healthy as possible as they grow into adulthood. Vaccines and boosters will be given by your vet to protect your puppy against diseases and infections, including bordatella, distemper/parvo, leptospirosis, lyme disease, rabies and influenza.

Deworming

Deworming is carried out by your vet and includes multiple treatments to treat parasites including roundworm, tapeworm and other intestinal organisms that can cause diseases in your puppy.

Flea, Tick & Heartworm Meds

Your pup will need to regularly take flea, tick and heartworm medication for the duration of their life, and you can either get these from your vet, or as a lower cost alternative, you can also purchase these from other retailers, including Petsmart, Costco, Petco and any other leading supplier.

Dental Cleaning

To help keep your puppy free from dental disease, regular dental cleaning can be done by your vet to keep your pup’s teeth and gums in tip top condition. Puppy dental cleaning covers anesthesia, exams and cleaning.

Puppy Spaying/Neuter

Spay/neuter surgery is a recommended procedure to help your puppy live a healthier and longer life as they enter adulthood. This surgery is done by your vet, and includes anesthesia, surgery and prescribed drugs.

Does this cover pre-existing conditions?

You’ll be happy to here, that yes, we you can invest in a puppy wellness plan even if your pup has a pre-existing condition.

Is this a puppy insurance policy?

Petted Puppy Wellness Plans are not an insurance policy. Rather, they’re a membership plan that cover just your puppy’s essential routine wellness needs.

Unlike a pet insurance policy, that covers unforeseen accidents and illnesses, our wellness plans cover the things you know your puppy is going to need to use.

What’s the difference between a puppy plan wellness plan and an adult plan?

Puppies usually need a lot more physical exams, and these are usually done every time your pup goes into the vet for their vaccines. Speaking of vaccines, a puppy will need more courses of certain vaccines as they’ve never had them before.

Usually, after year one, your pup will only need 1-2 physical wellness exams, and a vastly reduced set of boosters.

Does my puppy have to have preventative meds?

Every puppy needs a routine preventative wellness plan, in order to keep them healthy for as long as possible. Your vet will guide you through the program that’s best for your puppy, and you should definitely follow their advice so that you don’t risk their long term health and happiness.

How old should my puppy be when they get spayed/neutered?

Usually your puppy will be spayed or neutered when they’re around 6 months old. Your vet will be best placed though to give you guidance on this.

Do you offer multi-pet discounts?

Yes, absolutely we do. We offer 15% off all plans when you add more than one pet.

Can I change the plan my pup is on?

Our wellness plans can only be changed on the annual anniversary of your puppy’s enrollment.

How do I cancel my puppy’s plan?

We understand sometimes life happens (or events like COVID-19) that catch us all off guard. We’ve tried to make our cancellation policy as fair as possible.

  1. No Claims Made – you’re able to cancel anytime with no cancellation fees due.

  1. If You’ve Made A Claim – if you want to cancel prior to the 12 month term, there is a cancellation fee due of the LESSER of the amount paid in claims or the balance left to pay on the plan.

Note: If your pet passes away and you send us a copy of the death certificate or other proof from your vet, we will IMMEDIATELY cancel your plan and you will NOT be charged a cancellation fee.

How come there’s a cancellation fee?

We hate cancellation fees too but we have to protect ourselves against pet parents buying a plan today, claiming hundreds of Dollars tomorrow and then cancelling the next day. This is the only way we can be sure to keep offering these plans.

Can I amend my contact details or payment method?

Of course, no problem at all. To change your contact details, just send us a quick email to help@petted.com with your membership number and your updated info so we can get this changed for you.
