Routine Care Plans For Cats

Cat Wellness Exams

Your vet will usually give your cat a physical wellness exam three to four times when they’re a kitten, and then once or twice per year once they reach adulthood. Wellness exams are important because they can be the first indicator that something is not right with your cat, even if they’re not displaying any signs or symptoms of a problem.

Bloodwork / Diagnostic Testing For Cats

Your veterinarian make sure your cat is given blood tests and have other diagnostic tests when they have their physical exam, just to ensure there are no issues with their blood, liver, pancreas or thyroid. They may also take a stool sample to check there are no issues there too.

Cat Vaccines & Boosters

Your cat will need to have regular, scheduled vaccines as a kitten and then boosters as they enter adulthood. They will usually have these annually for their entire life, and your vet will give you the best guidance here. As a kitten they will be vaccinated against FVRCP (feline distemper), FeLV (feline leukaemia) and rabies. As they get older your cat will be vaccinated against FVRCP (feline rhinotracheitis calicivirus and panleukopenia), rabies, FeLV (feline leukemia) and FIP (feline infections peritonitis). Any vaccination your cat or kitten needs is covered, up to the annual coverage amount in the plan you choose.

Cat Deworming

Almost all kittens are infected with roundworm, so you’ll want to get your kitten dewormed asap. There are usually a few courses of deworming for kittens and then annually, or as advised by your vet as they develop into an adult cat.

Cat Flea, Tick & Heartworm Meds

You’ll likely want to protect your cat against fleas, ticks and heartworm. There are many choices available, either from your vet, or, usually at a much lower cost, from online retailers including Petcare Rx, Allivet and Costco. We cover every FDA approved brand up to the annual amount your plan offers.

Cat Dental Cleaning

Certain cat breeds can be very prone to gingivitis, which if left untreated can develop into very painful and expensive gum disease and damage. Regular dental cleanings are recommended by most vets and we cover this up to the annual coverage limit in the plan you choose.

Cat Spaying/Neuter

Cat spaying or neutering is veterinarian recommended to help your cat live a happy and healthy life. This can be done from as young as 4 months old, although some vets prefer to do it when your cat is a little older. The cost of this is covered, up to the annual cost in the plan you choose.

Because kittens need more physical wellness exams than adult cats we give a bigger allowance for these in the kitten plan. Additionally, our wellness plans for kittens cover up to $200 for spay/neuter costs.

Does my puppy have to have preventative meds?

As kittens need to have more physical exams at the vet’s than adult cats, we give a bigger allowance for kitten plans Every puppy needs a routine preventative wellness plan, in order to keep them healthy for as long as possible. How do I cancel my cat’s plan?

We understand sometimes life happens (Coronavirus for example) that catch us all by surprise. We have a very fair cancellation policy.

  1. No Claims Made – you’re able to cancel anytime with no cancellation fees due.

  1. If You’ve Made A Claim – if you want to cancel prior to the 12 month term, there is a cancellation fee due of the LESSER of the amount paid in claims or the balance left to pay on the plan.

Note: If your cat passes away and you send us a copy of the death certificate or other proof from your vet, we will IMMEDIATELY cancel your plan and you will NOT be charged a cancellation fee.

How come there’s a cancellation fee?

We hate cancellation fees too but we have to protect ourselves against pet parents buying a plan today, claiming hundreds of Dollars tomorrow and then cancelling the next day. This is the only way we can be sure to keep offering these plans.
